I came to Singapore for the first time in 2007, and I loved it immediately, so I finally moved here in 2009. At first I tried avoiding Italian restaurants as much as I could, a bit as I was flabbergasted by the richness and variety of the oriental cuisine, Japanese in primis, but also Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and many others, a bit because I was afraid of being disappointed, like it happened many times during the period I was living in Amsterdam.
After a bit, I started to notice that there were many Italian restaurant in Singapore. Many of them were pretty good, far beyond my (low) expectations. Thus, I decided to give more consideration to this category. I realized that many were run by authentic Italian chefs, with decades of experience in the business matured in Italy.
Needless to say, in a few months, I completely flipped my prejudice, realizing that in Singapore there is an amazing concentration of high quality Italian cuisine.
In this blog I will concentrate on my passion: the PIZZA NAPOLETANA!!! I will review one by one the pizzas that I eat around this little island, and I will judge them from the perspective of the standards of the Neapolitan pizza, established by the “Associazione Pizza Verace”, the Italian association that protects the tradition of the pizza according to Neapolitan standards.
Stay tuned!
